DAY 1 - DEPARTURE

Departure at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Check-in at British Airways Counter terminal B should be no later than 6:30 p.m. Flight BA0188 leaves for London Heathrow Airport (LHR) at 9:30 p.m.

DAY 2 - LONDON

Arrive at London Heathrow International Airport at 9:15 a.m. Assistance and transfer to your hotel. Check-in for eight nights. Luggage may be put in storage in case rooms are not ready. In the afternoon, there is a guided orientation tour of London. The guide will show you the main landmarks of the city and explain how to use public transportation, use your Oyster Pass for public transportation, and exchange money. You will visit Saint Paul’s Cathedral, including the crypt and the galleries.

DAY 3 - LONDON

After breakfast, a guided tour of the Trafalgar Square area, Buckingham Palace with the changing of the guards, an outside view of Clarence House, Saint James Park, and Saint Martin-in-the-Fields, including the café located in the crypt which served as a bomb shelter. In the afternoon, you will visit the London Museum and Royal Air Force Museum.

DAY 4 - LONDON

Following breakfast, a visit to Westminster Cathedral, entrance to the cabinet of war rooms, the 19 underground rooms and places related to WWII. An audio guide for the cabinet of war rooms are included. Tour the outside view of 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and view Big Ben from Lambeth Bridge. Spend the remainder of the day on academic studies.

DAY 5 - LONDON

After breakfast, tour the Imperial War Museum and the surrounding area and learn more about the Blitz. Visit the HMS Belfast and the Tower of London. Enjoy the London Tower Bridge Experience with the walkways (all entrance fees included). Possible evening theatre performance.

DAY 6 - LONDON

Following breakfast a morning excursion to Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill. The visit includes the gardens and the garden studio where Churchill kept many of his paintings. Return to London and take a walking tour to visit the British Museum and its surroundings. Return by subway to the hotel. Possible evening theatre performance.

DAY 7 - LONDON

After breakfast, a full day excursion to Duxford and Uxbridge. Visit the Imperial War Museum and the airfield where you will learn about aerial combat and the Battle of Britain. In Uxbridge, learn more out the Battle of Britain bunker, which played a crucial role in the defense of the United Kingdom in its darkest hour in 1940.

DAY 8 - LONDON

Following breakfast, a morning tour of west London to visit the National Army Museum. View the outside of the Chelsea Royal Hospital and proceed to Kensington Palace, the royal residence set in Kensington Gardens in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Spend the remainder of the day on academic studies, either revisiting previously seen sites and museums or exploring other aspects of London WWII history such as the National Maritime History Museum.

DAY 9 - LONDON

After breakfast, an excursion to Bletchley Park (train tickets included from Victoria Station). Visit the Museum of Bletchley Park dedicated to WWII cryptography. Once the top-secret home of the WWII code breakers, it is now a vibrant heritage attraction. Lunch and dinner on your own.

DAY 10 - RETURN

After breakfast, your coach will transfer you to London Heathrow International Airport (LHR) at 7:30 a.m. Check-in at British Airways counter no later than 8:30 a.m. Flight BA0185 leaves London Heathrow airport at 11:10 a.m. and arrives at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) at 3:20 p.m. Upon arrival, meet your driver and coach to return to the Penn State Harrisburg campus.
