Departure from JFK, NYC – JetBlue flight #1533 leaving JFK at 9:35 am arriving Cartagena at 1:40 pm.

Arrive in Cartagena and get settled in the hotel. Pre-readings should be completed before our first meeting.

DAY 4 - Cartagena

8:00 am: Colombia’s Afro-Caribian Culture and Ecology  – Tour of La Boquilla and Drumming with Batambora. Finish the day at the NGO ProBoquilla cooperative.

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Dinner with college professor TBD

 

DAY 5 - Cartagena

8:00 am: Education in a Post-Conflict Society  – Visit to a Fundacion Pies Descalzos School

4:00 pm: History and Conflict in Colombian Art   – Getsemani Graffiti Tour

6:00 pm: Dinner with Zenu activist TBD

DAY 6 - Cartagena

9:00 am – Visit to the Ministerio de Educacion National for a forum on Peace and Reconciliation

 

DAY 7 - Cartagena

Friday March 21st, 2025

8:00 am: Education in a Post-Conflict Society – Visit Palenque de San Basilio, a UNESCO Cultural Space with Experience Real Cartagena

4:00 pm – Return to hotel in Cartagena to pack

Travel back to NYC – JetBlue flight #1532 leaving Cartagena at  3:00 pm arriving JFK, NY at 9:00 pm.

Payment Schedule

Deposit  $500  (this is a non-refundable deposit due upon registration)
Balance payment is due by February 15, 2025 

When registration is made within 60 days prior to departure the full amount of the trip is due

Travel Insurance

We advise all travelers to purchase travel insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances and if you are no longer able to travel. We offer the following insurance policies through Allianz Travel Insurance: Basic, Classic, and Classic with cancel anytime. Prices vary with age and amount insured.

Passport

Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before September 22, 2025, you must apply to renew your passport.

Visa

If you are not a US citizen please check with the Colombia Consulate Office or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA
