DAY 1 - DEPARTURE

Departure from JFK for an overnight non stop flight to Amsterdam.
Delta flight DL # 46 leaves JFK at 4:35 PM.
Make sure to arrive at JFK 3-hours prior to departure.

DAY 2 - AMSTERDAM

Wednesday June 26th, 2024 | D

Flight arrival at 6:00 AM. Assistance and transfer to your hotel upon arrival.
Check-in for 2 nights at the Four Elements Hotel.
Receive a day pass for public transportation.
Instructor-led tour of central Amsterdam, including Begijnhof, Dam Square, Oude Kerk, De Wallen (Red Light District)
and the Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market). Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure in Amsterdam or join an optional
instructor-led trip to Heineken Brewery to learn how this popular Dutch beer is made ($20).

DAY 3 - AMSTERDAM

Use your day pass to use public transportation.
You’ll have a free afternoon to wander about this beautiful city, taking in additional sites that interest you. Or you can participate in an optional instructor-led visit to the VondelPark, Albert Cuyp Market, and (for art lovers) the Van Gogh Museum ($20).

 

DAY 4 - LEUVEN via DELFT

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
Coach transfer from Amsterdam to Leuven. 2-hour stop in Delft.
Check-in at the Irish College for 7 nights.
Depart in early morning for Delft, where we will stop for 2 hours to allow you to explore one of the Netherlands most charming towns. We’ll arrive in Leuven by early afternoon and check into the Irish College, where we will be staying for the next week. Following a break for lunch, you’ll have an instructor-led tour of the major sites of Leuven, including the Old Market, Town Hall, St. Peter’s Church, and the Begijnhof.
In the evening, join the instructors to explore dining options around the university and a welcome celebration in Leuven’s famous Old Market.

DAY 5 - LEUVEN - BRUGGE

Saturday June 29th, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
You will receive a train pass to use in Belgium.

Depart by train in the early morning for Bruges  (1.5 hrs). Upon arrival, we’ll have an instructor-led walking tour of the city. Following a late lunch break lunch, students will have the option of exploring the rest of this charming town on their own, including visiting several famous museums (Groeningen Art Museum, Beer Experience Museum, Torture Museum, Friet (French Fry) Museum, Chocolate Museum, St. Jan’s Hospital (and Pharmacy).

2 pm: Entrance to Belfry Tower (included).

The Belfry of Bruges is a medieval bell tower in the center of Bruges, Belgium. One of the city’s most prominent symbols, the belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other dangers.

 

DAY 6 - LEUVEN - GHENT

Sunday June 30th, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
Use your train pass to depart by train in the early morning for Ghent (1.5 hr). Upon arrival, we’ll have an Instructor-led tour of Gent, including the medieval town hall, St. Nicholas Church, St. Bavo’s Cathedral with its famous van Eyck altarpiece.

After lunch, enjoy a free afternoon exploring Ghent on your own or participate in an instructor-led visit to the Castle of the Counts of Flanders (Gravensteen). ($7)

DAY 7 - LEUVEN

Monday July 1st, 2024 | B

Own arrangement for today’s activities.
After so much moving around, today will be a day of relative leisure. In the afternoon, there will be an optional walking tour to visit additional sites in Leuven and the surrounding area. In the evening, there will be a beer and cheese tasting experience at the Irish College.

DAY 8 - LEUVEN - ANTWERP

Tuesday July 2nd, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
With your train pass depart by train in early morning for Antwerp (1 hr). Attend an interactive social policy workshop on Budget Method at University of Antwerp with Dr. Ive Marx (10am-1pm). The purpose of this is for BE/US students to engage, compose and price a budget for their country/city. Compare and discuss the different policies.
At 2pm, there will be an instructor-led tour of central Antwerp, including Antwerpen-Centraal, Meir, Grote Markt, and Cathedral of Our Lady, followed by a social with University of Antwerp students.

DAY 9 - LEUVEN - BRUSSELS

Wednesday July 3rd, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
With your train pass depart by train in the early morning for Brussels (30 min). Upon arrival, there will be a instructor-led tour of the Grand Place, Manneken Pis, Royal Galleries of Saint-Hubert, and St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral. Afterwards, we’ll have a private guided tour of the European Parliament (11:30am) (Own arrangements) with am discussion with a member of Parliament. After lunch, you’ll have the option of either an instructor-led tour of the House of European History or a visit to the Royal Museum of Fine Arts ($3).

DAY 10 - LEUVEN - FREE DAY

Thursday July 4th, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
It’s your final free day in Belgium, so we’re giving you various options: (1) use your rail pass to go anywhere in Belgium; (2) participate in an instructor-led trip to Maastricht (Netherlands) [train supplement: $30; caves admission: $10] or a beach trip to Ostend (weather permitting).

DAY 11 - PARIS

Friday July 5th, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
Transfer by coach from Leuven to Paris: 215 miles / approximately 4 to 4 1⁄2 drive
Check-in for 3 nights at the Novotel Paris La Defense
Start the use of your 3 day metro pass in the afternoon
Depart for Paris in the early morning by coach and check into the hotel upon arrival in Paris.
Instructor-led tour of Cite and Left Bank, including Notre Dame Cathedral, Deportation Memorial, Latin Quarter, Sorbonne, the Church of St. Germain-des-Pres, and Kilo Shop clothing exchange on St. Germain. In the late afternoon, we’ll gather food items from the shops on St. Jacques and have the traditional Molloy picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens.

DAY 12 - Paris

Saturday July 6th, 2024 | B

Enjoy breakfast.
The famous Paris Death March, begun in 1984, will be held today. This will involve an instructor-led tour of the Right Bank, including Place de Vosges and the Marais District, Hotel de Ville, Tour St. Jacques, Louvre, Palais Royale, Tuilerie Gardens, Place de la Concorde, Champs Elysées, Arch of Triumph, and Place Trocadero. We’ll then cross back over to the Left Bank and stop for a late lunch break on the Rue Cler or a picnic on the Champs de Mars with views of the Eiffel
Tower. In the late afternoon, we’ll allow time for anyone who wants to climb to the second level of the Eiffel Tower ($12). The day will end with an evening Bateaux Mouches boat-ride on the Seine from Pont d’Alma.

DAY 13 - PARIS

Sunday July 7th, 2024 | B

This is your free day in Paris to do whatever sites you want (e.g., The Louvre, Versailles, Hotel Invalides, the Paris Sewers, the D’Orsay Museum, Château de Vincennes, Pere Lachaise Cemetery, etc.) There will also be several different instructor-led options, depending upon the interests of students. At 5pm we will meet for an instructor-led tour of beautifulMontmartre to watch the lights  turn on over Paris.

DAY 14 - RETURN

Monday July 8th, 2024

Early departure from the hotel. Breakfast box to take with you.
Transfer by coach from hotel to CDG airport to take your flight back to JFK.
Air France flight AF # 2 leaves at 8:30 AM and arrives JFK AT 10:40 am

Payment Schedule

$500 non-refundable deposit upon registration

$1000 – due by  January 15

$1000 – due by  March 25

$800 – due by  May 10

 

 

Cancellations

All changes and cancellations must be provided in writing.
The following penalties apply with the number of days prior to departure:

● $500 deposit payment is non-refundable
● $500 if cancellation is received between January 26 – March 18, 2024
● $1500 if cancelation is received between March 19 – April 1, 2024
● 100% of the total trip cost after April 1, 2024 or in case of no-show

Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before January 8, 2025, you must apply to renew your passport.
