DAY 1 - Departure

Thursday May 30th, 2024

The group meets at JFK airport.
Fly with Emirates on flight EK 204 departing JFK to Dubai at 11:20 am

DAY 2 - En route

Friday May 31st, 2024

Arrive Dubai 7:50 am
Depart Dubai 9:30am Arrive Dar Es Salaam 1:55PM
Volunteers fly to Dar es Salaam International Airport and stay overnight at the Blue Sapphire
Hotel Limited (https://hotelbluesapphire.co.tz). A Blue Sapphire representative will meet the
volunteers outside the airport baggage claim area and transport them to the hotel.

DAY 3 - Tanzania

Saturday June 1st, 2024

After breakfast, the hotel will transport the volunteers to the Dar es Salaam domestic airport for the
one-hour flight to Dodoma on Air Tanzania.

A Global Volunteers staff person will meet the volunteers upon their arrival in Dodoma and accompany
them to Iringa.

A private bus will transport the volunteers from Dodoma to Iringa, a four-hour drive.

Global Volunteers staff will transport the volunteers from Iringa to Ipalamwa, a two-hour drive.

Upon arrival in Ipalamwa volunteers can get settled into their lodging. The service program will
officially begin with a welcome dinner hosted by your groups Team Leader, Given Mlowe.
Lodging in Global Volunteer guesthouse at the RCP Center from June 1- 14.
Three meals daily at the RCP Center. All meals are arranged by Global Volunteers’ cooks who are experienced in preparing meals for Americans. (Lunch may be at the work site depending upon the distance from the center).

DAY 4 - Tanzania

Sunday June 2nd, 2024

After breakfast we will gather to spend the day attending Global Volunteers orientation
sessions led by your team leader, Given Mlowe. Orientation will include an introduction to our
community partners, community projects and assignments, health and safety protocols, team
building sessions to define characteristics of an effective team and team goals. We will also go
over the Global Volunteers, Volunteer Manual, sent to all prior to arrival in Tanzania. We will
break for lunch and most likely finish up later in the afternoon at which point volunteers are
free to rest and relax or to enjoy their new surroundings before gathering for the evening meal.

DAY 5 - Tanzania

Monday June 3rd, 2024

Every morning during the work week, and after breakfast, Given will hold a morning meeting.
Volunteers gather with her to review the day’s schedule, discuss any issues, and answer all
volunteers’ questions. At midday, volunteers will return from their project assignments to the
RCP center for lunch and a bit of a break before returning to their afternoon work assignments.
Volunteers will have free time after the afternoon work projects until the evening meeting and
dinner. The team leader will host each evening meeting, which is an opportunity for volunteers
to share about their day, reflect on their projects and the community, and report any needed
information to the team leader.

On the final day in the village, Global Volunteers staff will transport the volunteers to the Lutheran Center in Iringa. Overnight in Iringa.

Terms and Conditions

Celestial Voyagers Terms and Conditions relate to specific contracts with various suppliers. The policies and regulations below must be strictly enforced.

A non refundable deposit of $500 is due upon registration.
When registration is made within 60 days prior to departure the full amount of the trip is due

 

 

Payment Schedule

  • $500 – due by December 8
  • $1,000 – due by February 2
  • $1,000 – due by March 8
  • $1,400 –due by April 26

 

Cancellations

All changes and cancellations must be provided in writing. The following penalties apply with the
number of days prior to departure:
● $500 non-refundable processing fee before February 29, 2024
● $750 if cancellation is received between March 1 – April 15, 2024
● 50% of the total trip cost between April 15 – April 29, 2024
● 100% of the total trip cost after April 29, 2024

 

Travel Insurance

We advise all travelers to purchase travel insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances and if you are no longer able to travel. We offer the following insurance policies through Allianz Travel Insurance: Basic, Classic, and Classic with cancel anytime. Prices vary with age and amount insured.

  1. Online: During your registration, you can submit your payment by e-check or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express). There is a 3% service fee for all online payments. To avoid this fee, you can mail a check or money order.
  2. Phone: We accept credit card & e-check payments by phone. Credit card payments incur a 3% service fee but there is no service fee for e-checks.
  3. Post Mail: You could also mail a paper check or a money order. Checks should be made payable to “Celestial Voyagers” and mailed to the address in the “Contact Us” section.

Passports and Visas

Passport

Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before December 16, 2024, you must apply to renew your passport.

Visa

If you are not a US citizen please check with the Tanzania Consulate Office or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA
