Volunteers fly to Dar es Salaam International Airport and stay overnight at the Blue Sapphire
Hotel Limited (https://hotelbluesapphire.co.tz). A Blue Sapphire representative will meet the
volunteers outside the airport baggage claim area and transport them to the hotel.

After breakfast, the hotel will transport the volunteers to the Dar es Salaam domestic airport for the
one-hour flight to Dodoma on Air Tanzania.
A Global Volunteers staff person will meet the volunteers upon their arrival in Dodoma and accompany
them to Iringa.
A private bus will transport the volunteers from Dodoma to Iringa, a four-hour drive.
Global Volunteers staff will transport the volunteers from Iringa to Ipalamwa, a two-hour drive.
Upon arrival in Ipalamwa volunteers can get settled into their lodging. The service program will
officially begin with a welcome dinner hosted by your groups Team Leader, Given Mlowe.

Three meals daily at the RCP Center. All meals are arranged by Global Volunteers’ cooks who are experienced in preparing meals for Americans. (Lunch may be at the work site depending upon the distance from the center).
After breakfast we will gather to spend the day attending Global Volunteers orientation
sessions led by your team leader, Given Mlowe. Orientation will include an introduction to our
community partners, community projects and assignments, health and safety protocols, team
building sessions to define characteristics of an effective team and team goals. We will also go
over the Global Volunteers, Volunteer Manual, sent to all prior to arrival in Tanzania. We will
break for lunch and most likely finish up later in the afternoon at which point volunteers are
free to rest and relax or to enjoy their new surroundings before gathering for the evening meal.

volunteers’ questions. At midday, volunteers will return from their project assignments to the
RCP center for lunch and a bit of a break before returning to their afternoon work assignments.

On the final day in the village, Global Volunteers staff will transport the volunteers to the Lutheran Center in Iringa. Overnight in Iringa.

When registration is made within 60 days prior to departure the full amount of the trip is due
All changes and cancellations must be provided in writing. The following penalties apply with the
number of days prior to departure:

● $750 if cancellation is received between March 1 – April 15, 2024
● 50% of the total trip cost between April 15 – April 29, 2024

Passport
Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before December 16, 2024, you must apply to renew your passport.
Visa
If you are not a US citizen please check with the Tanzania Consulate Office or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA
