We only have one day in Germany, so we’re going to make the most of it. We’ll start with an instructor-led tour of Koln, stopping in to visit the Koln Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and ascend to its dome. Then we’ll explore the old town and town hall. In the evening, we’ll stop along the river to break for dinner and afterwards take a Rhine River cruise.

Check into Irish College in Leuven for 5 nights.
We’ll arrive in Leuven, Belgium by early afternoon and check into the Irish College, where we will be staying for the next five nights. Following a break for lunch, you’ll have an instructor-led tour of the major sites of Leuven, including the Old Market, Town Hall, St. Peter’s Church, and the Begijnhof.
In the evening, join the instructors to explore dining options around the university.

Depart by train in the early morning for Bruges (1.5 hrs). Upon arrival, we’ll have an instructor-led walking tour of the city. Following a late lunch break lunch, students will have the option of exploring the rest of this charming town on their own, including visiting several famous museums (Groeningen Art Museum, Beer Experience Museum, Torture Museum, Friet (French Fry) Museum, Chocolate Museum, St. Jan’s Hospital (and Pharmacy)
3 pm: Entrance to Belfry Tower.
The Belfry of Bruges is a medieval bell tower in the center of Bruges, Belgium. One of the city’s most prominent symbols, the belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives, and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other dangers.

Use your train pass to depart by train in the early morning for Ghent (1.5 hr). Upon arrival, we’ll have an 11:00 visit to St. Bavo’s Cathedral with its famous van Eyck altarpiece. Afterwards, we have an instructor-led tour of Medieval Ghent, including the medieval town hall, St. Nicholas Church. Our day will end with an instructor-led visit to the Castle of the Counts of Flanders (Gravensteen) at 3:30pm.

With your train pass depart by train in late morning for Brussels (30 min). Upon arrival, there will be an instructor-led tour.

It’s your final free day in Belgium, so we’re giving you various options: (1) Join the instructor’s on a walking tour of Antwerp; (2) use your rail pass to go anywhere in Belgium on your own; (4) travel to Maastricht (Netherlands) – train supplement $30; caves admission $10 or (5) have a beach excursion on the North Sea at Ostend (weather permitting).

Start the use of your 3 day metro pass in the afternoon
Instructor-led tour of Cite and Left Bank, including Notre Dame Cathedral, Deportation Memorial, Latin Quarter, Sorbonne, the Church of St. Germaine-des-Pres, and Kilo Shop clothing exchange on St. Germain. In the late afternoon, we’ll gather food items from the shops on St. Jacques and have the traditional picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens.
The famous Paris Death March, begun in 1984, will be held today. This will involve an instructor-led tour of the Right Bank, including Place de Voges and the Marais District, Hotel de Ville, Tour St. Jacques, Louvre, Palais Royale, Tulerie Gardens, Place de la Concorde, Champs Elysees, Arch of Triumph, and Place Trocadero. We’ll then cross back over to the Left Bank and stop for a late lunch break on the Rue Cler before climbing to the second level of the Eiffel Tower! The day will be capped off with an evening Bateaux Mouches boat-ride on the Seine from Pont d’Alma.
This is your free day in Paris to do whatever sites you want (e.g., The Louvre, Versailles, Hotel Invalides, the Paris Sewers, the D’Orsay Museum, Chateau de Vincennes, Pere Laschaise Cemetery, etc.) There will be several different instructor-led options, depending upon the interests of students.
