Guided orientation city tour to see the main landmarks of the Austrian capital and learn about local culture: where to eat and change money, how to use public transportation.

As you visit the Capital of Austria you will learn about its most famous residents: the musician composers Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss, the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, world known artist-painters such as Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, as well as Friedensreich Hundertwasser known for his architectural designs. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence.
This evening you could join Dr. Evan Bradley to go to the Vienna Stadt Opera and see Elisir d’Amore of Donizetti. If you wish to join Dr. Bradley you must register in advance. Tickets must be prepaid.

Walking tour in the morning to visit the city center using your smartphone; it includes Saint Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg which used to be the Imperial Residence.
You may want to see the elegant and cozy Cafe Landtmann with its wood-paneled walls, dark-wood furniture and white tablecloths. It dates back to 1873, making it one of the oldest coffee houses in Vienna, and it is housed in a listed historical building. Its prime location, surrounded by the city hall, the Burgtheater, the Imperial Palace and the University of Vienna, makes it one of the most popular cafes in town.
Then you will go to Schonbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburg; it is the most visited attraction in Austria. It is also a Unesco World Heritage site.

10 :00 AM: Entrance to Vienna State Opera for a guided tour (subject to confirmation)
11: 30 AM: Haus der Musik Museum: entrance fee and guided tour are included.
The Haus der Musik in Vienna opened in 2000, and is the first museum of sound and music in Austria. Across an exhibition space of 54,000 sq. ft. A range of hi-tech interactive and multimedia presentations introduce the world of music, from the earliest human use of instruments to the music of the present day.

Other possibilities are to go and visit the Freud Museum, or to go to The Prater. Entrance fees are not included.
Freud Museum:
Sigmund Freud and his family lived at this historic address, which was also the site of his practice, for 47 years until they were forced to flee from the National Socialist regime in 1938.

The Prater:
Experience a ride on the famous Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, a landmark of the Austrian capital and a symbol for the world-famous Wiener Prater. With its iconic silhouette, the Giant Ferris Wheel is a must-see attraction for all visitors to Vienna. A ride on the Wheel cost about $15 and the entrance to the Prater is free.

Possibility to tour the Hofburg Palace and visit the Kunsthistorisches Museum
The Hofburg: A Baroque complex of Palace and Museums.

The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty. Located in the center of Vienna, it was built in the 13th century and expanded several times afterwards. It also served as the imperial winter residence, as Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum is the Museum of Fine Arts. Among all kinds of very rich collections you will see a collection of Historic musical instruments.
4:00 PM: Local transport to go outside of Vienna for dinner. Enjoy the atmosphere of an old wine village and try the delicious home-cooked food in a traditional Heurigen, listen to the beautiful sounds of live Schrammel music, admire the magnificent sights and breath-taking scenery, breathe in the fresh country air, and enjoy the panoramic view over the city.
Before having dinner in the village of Grinzing we will take a walk to Beethovengang and the the statue of the composer

Morning visit to Naschmarkt:
Find out sample authentic Viennese cuisine or soak up local culture, visit the 16th-century Naschmarkt—the oldest of Vienna’s many markets. Located just south of Vienna’s historic center.

Afternoon visit The Belvedere
Upper and Lower Belvedere combi tickets are not included
This Baroque palace complex was built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy. The visit includes the Palace and the gardens as well as the Klimt collection. It is there that you will see “The Kiss”, Klimt’s most famous painting.

Evening at the Volksoper
Dr. Bradley will take his students to the Volksoper to see “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss.
The show is at 7:00 PM Tickets are not included and will have to be prepaid. Others can tag along if you wish but you must register in advance with Dr. Bradley.

Transfer to airport for your return flight to the USA
The 4-Star Mercure Hotel Vienna City is quietly located near the Danube Canal within walking distance of the city center. This hotel offers modern rooms, all with air conditioning, individual service with Viennese charm and the world-famous cuisine of Vienna. Nested in the neighborhood of the Vienna city synagogue it is very close to the main sights and surrounded by restaurants, it is a pleasant refuge in a busy area.
Guests can relax after a busy day in the city on the hotel’s terrace.
Schwedenplatz is the nearest subway station with U1 and U4 lines, 6 minutes walk away.

Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before September 12, 2022, you must apply to renew your passport. If you are not a US citizen please check with the consulate of Ireland or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA.
