Morning: We will take the coach bus to the Nuremberg Nazi Rally Grounds, spending several hours at the Documentation Center there, which is reputed to be one of the best museums on the history of Nazi Germany; and then we will walk around the surrounding grounds, which includes the Zeppelin Field and Congress Hall, as well as the site of the post-war Nuremberg Trials.
Afternoon: guided tour – Historic Art Bunker and Underground Tour—a site that includes the location where Nuremberg’s artworks were stored for safekeeping during the war, as well as the network of tunnels and bunkers where much of the population sought shelter during the Allied bombing campaign.

Morning guided tour of sites in Nuremberg’s historic Old Town, including the Imperial Castle, the Kettensteg (Chain Bridge), Main Market Square, Craftsman’s Courtyard, St. Lawrence Church, Königstor (King’s Gate) and Königstorturm (King’s Gate Tower); and Königstrasse.
After Lunch, continue to Munich (2.5 hours)
Upon arrival in Munich, enjoy a guided walking tour, which includes the Viktualienmarkt and nearby St. Peter’s Church.

Day Trip to the King’s Castles and Zugspitze
This will be a day-long trip to one of Germany’s most picturesque locales, two castles associated with the so-called “Mad” King Ludwig of Bavaria (1845-1886),
Hohenscwhagau and Neuschwanstein (with the latter being used by the Nazis to store stolen art during WWII).
After touring the castles and taking a short trip to the scenic Mary’s Bridge and the Pöllat Gorge, the bus will take us to Zugspitze, the tallest point in Germany. An observation peak at the top of the mountain provides sweeping views across the German-Austrian border.
Return to overnight in Munich.

Sometimes referred to as Nazi Germany’s version of Camp David, Berchtesgaden was a location where Hitler often met with his top civilian and military leaders to plan various initiatives and military campaigns.
Today it houses one of the best museums dedicated to Nazi Germany. Students will also be able to tour the network of underground tunnels built as bunkers for the top Nazi leaders. In the afternoon, the class can visit the beautiful historic town of Berchtesgaden and travel around the area.

Passport
Most countries require that a passport be valid for six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires before September 16, 2025, you must apply to renew your passport. If you are not a US citizen please check with the consulate of France or a visa agency for the latest requirements. You will also need a re-entry permit to return to the USA.
